Clearwave Fiber Essay Contest

Clearwave Fiber invites students to explore and articulate their perspectives on the profound impact of Fiber Internet on society for cash prizes in its inaugural Essay Contest. Prizes will be awarded to two students, with additional money awarded to the schools whose students write the winning essays.

Prizes

1st Place: $1,000 cash prize, plus $1,000 to the school with the winning entry.
2nd Place: $500 cash prize, plus $500 to the school with the winning entry.

Essay Topic

Empowering Communities: Exploring How the Internet Facilitates Growth, Connectivity, and Opportunity.

Essays should highlight the importance of digital connectivity and show critical thinking about the role of technology in community development. Students can delve into various aspects of how the internet positively impacts communities and their culture, in areas such as access to education, healthcare, job opportunities, and community engagement, exploring real-life examples and personal anecdotes to illustrate their points. 

Eligibility & Competition Structure

  • Open to all high school students.
  • Students should upload their essays and complete the registration form to enter.
  • A panel of judges from Clearwave Fiber will select the two winners for each participating school district.
  • Winners will be announced on or about Nov. 13, 2024.

Deadline

All essays must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on Sept. 30, 2024. The registration form must also be completed.

Length

Essays should be at least 1,000 words but should not exceed 1,500 words (word count does not apply to the list of sources).

Format Guidelines

  • Essay must be submitted in PDF format.
  • Font used should be Times New Roman, 12 point.
  • Document should be double-spaced with one‑inch margins.
  • Must include entrant’s first name, last name and school name at the top of the essay document.
  • Use of AI is prohibited.
